This coffee is comprised of lot separations from smallholder farmers in Danche, a small community in the Gedeo Zone of southern Ethiopia. We find an unparalleled clarity of flavor in this coffee with notes of citrus and stone fruit, a silky sweetness and immaculate florals.
After harvesting ripe coffee fruit, these farmers deliver their lots to the Goro Badesa washing station where they are pulped, fermented for 48-72 hours, washed and then dried on shaded, raised beds for 8-12 days. The washing station is working with the producers in Danche to transition to organic farming practices, beginning with planting shade trees for their coffee, thereby improving soil health and decreasing the need for fertilizers or pesticides. Goro Badesa also acts as a liaison between local communities and the government to facilitate infrastructure initiatives - current projects include road maintenance and the renovation of an elementary school.
