Tutule Natural is a regional lot from San Pedro de Tutule, a small town in the La Paz department of southwest Honduras. The producers that contributed to this coffee each have farms that average about 14 hectares (35 acres), nestled at elevations in the Montecillos mountain range that provide a climate that is highly suited to growing coffee. This lot begins with careful hand picking of ripe coffee fruit which is fermented for 48-72 hours and then laid to sun dry on raised beds for 15 to 18 days.
This lot marks our first year to source coffee from Honduras. We are pleased with the quality we are tasting and are excited to explore more of the unique flavor profiles to be found within Honduran coffee. In Tutule Natural we find notes of tropical fruit and cooked berries with a creamy chocolate finish.
