El Cerro is a 4 hectare farm owned by Efrain Carhuallocllo Salvador near the village of El Corazon in the Chirinos district of Cajamarca, Peru. Efrain runs his farm and wet mill with extreme care and precision and with an eye towards innovation as well. The results of this dedication are clear: he placed 2nd in the very first Cup of Excellence competition in Peru, and he has gone on to place in the top 10 for multiple years, most recently a 9th place award in 2024. This is our second year in a row to work with Efrain’s beautiful Gesha separation and this season's lot is a stellar example of the variety. With sparkling citrus and stone fruit acidity up front, layers of complex florals and elegant sweetness round out the cup.
At El Cerro, ripe coffee fruit is hand picked and then fermented for 24 hours before being washed and dried. Great care is taken during the drying process, which lasts an average of 25 days, to ensure that the coffee dries slowly and evenly for better longevity.

Orders placed Monday - Thursday by 6am will be roasted and shipped the same day. Orders placed after our daily or weekly cutoff will be roasted the next scheduled production day. All online orders are shipped within 24 hours of roasting.
