Kigoma

This coffee comes to us from the Horizon Supreme washing station in the Huye district of Rwanda’s Southern Province. Owned by Fidele Ndagijima, Horizon processes the harvests of smallholder producers in the region, with this specific lot coming from farmers around the village of Kigoma. Rwandan coffees have a unique flavor profile among East African coffee producing countries, owing to the unique soil and climatic conditions, processing methodology, and the prevalence of the Red Bourbon variety. In Kigoma, we’re getting a cup with honey-like sweetness, piquant red fruit and a warm complexity that reminds us of black tea.
